But she doesn't know that one of them will be finding a treasure in their own house.This sequel to ABSOLUTELY TRULY doesn't have quite the edge as the initial book, as Truly's father is now comfortable running the bookstore and adjusting to his artificial arm, so that one of the family problems she had to face in the initial book is now not as urgent. In addition, Truly's now a teenager, so sex has to rear its ugly head and she realizes she likes her classmate Calhoun, but she thinks her cousin is after him. That business was kind of blah. On the other hand, the artifact that Truly and Mackenzie find--the diary of Truly's aunt who was an immigrant to New England in the ante-bellum era--which reveals a formerly hidden historic event in little Pumpkin Falls is the catalyst for a Nancy Drew-like adventure that borrows a little from Elsie in the 19th century classic WHAT KATY DID. [Spoiler: Chapter 1 will give you all the clues if you care to spot them.]Verdict: Truly and her friends and family are still some of my favorite people. This series will be okay if they softpedal the teen romance tedium.

This was such a cute book and fun read! I enjoyed that there were two mysteries to solve as it kept things more interesting. I’m a tad history obsessed, so I was very delighted to see some very exciting historical aspects brought into the story. A great middle grade read!

Another delightful novel from the talented Heather Vogel Frederick! The second book in the new Pumpkin Falls mystery series is everything a reader could hope for. As usual, Frederick provides an engaging story with multi-dimensional characters. Any reader who loved the Mother-Daughter Book Club series and was left wishing for more will find that this and Absolutely Truly will give them a new story that is as satisfying as MDBC. This book makes me want to move to New Hampshire.

Fredrick has produced a great follow up to the first pumpkin falls mystery. This one works because the mystery is interesting and the characters are consistent.

As the Times says, Elizabeth Chadwick brings history to life. Like the other two in the series (The Summer Queen and The Winter Crown), The Autumn Throne takes you back in time to medieval England, France, Normandy Germany and even the road to Jerusalem. Miss Chadwick's writing is such that you feel you are there travelling with Eleanor (Alienor), living with her in her prison, listening to her giving orders and commands, watching her rule the Angevin Empire in her son's stead. You feel the bleak cold of winter and the simmering heat of summer. The terror of impending war, the sadness of imminent death.There are so many versions written about the life of Eleanor of Aquitaine. And Miss Chadwick's, to me, is one of the best two. The other being the one written by Sharon Kay Penman. Five stars.

This is a very well written, researched, and intriguing third book that details the always active life of one of England's most renowned and intriguing queens. She was the wife of two kings, the queen of two great countries, England and France, and the mother of eight children, most of whom became kings or queens. Her bloodline continues to run through royalty today, I feel certain. You will not want to put this one down. It is a wonderfully educational, insightful, and inspiring book. Kathy R. Blackman

This is the third and last book of the series on Alienor (aka Eleanor) of Aquitaine. It begins when she is imprisoned by by her husband King Henry who flits from one young mistress to another. He tries to get Alienor to move into a convent and free him to marry his current mistress, but she refuses.Alienor is portrayed as a strong woman way ahead of the medieval times in which she lived. She challenged men and stood up for what she wanted or thought was right. Alienor was also strong when she became the Dowager Queen. She knew how to fight for her lands and who she could rely on. She was physically strong too, as she traveled by horse long distances in bitterly cold weather even as an old woman.Alienor also defended her children through thick and thin. I found it interesting to see her emotions as she saw the tensions and arguments between her sons Richard and John. Like many mothers, she wanted to believe in the goodness of her children. She defended John even when he was conniving against her favorite son Richard and mistreating others.I also enjoyed reading about her tender relationships with grandchildren and friendships with various women and William Marshall.

I am a fan of Elizabeth Chadwick. I especially like her books on William Marshall. Her "Eleanor of Aquitane" trilogy is not her best work. Maybe the fact that I have read so extensively on the Plantagents in general and Henry II and Eleanor in particular, sort of colored my enjoyment. Ms. Chadwick tends to focus only on the main people and not really touch on the secondary characters. For instance, in this book, she never mentions Eleanor's middle daughter, also named Eleanor, until she has to because Eleanor's daughter--her granddaughter, is going to marry the French prince. I mean I knew about Eleanor (her daughter) from previous reading but to a first time reader, they might be confused because there is no previous mention of her in this book.

This is the last in a series of three novels about the life of Eleanor of Aquitaine. Skillfully rendered, this is a portrait of a woman who was larger than life - If someone had written this as a Hollywood script, it would have been dismissed out of hand as being way over the top. And yet, the author has merely recounted history, filling in some of the most intimate details where facts are open to question. Eleanor (or as she is called here, Alienor) - defies and exceeds all expectations of women, both for the twelfth century and for the twenty-first. She was a fiery combination of regal bearing and passion, as well as an astute politician (who happened to bear nine children while married to Henry II.) She endured unimaginable trials and tribulations, easily keeping pace with the men who surrounded her, and who tried and failed to keep her down. I highly recommend reading all three novels. And while I don't cry at the drop of a hat, I had a big cry at the end of this one - I hated saying goodbye to this remarkable person!

Since I am a student of history and Eleanor of Aquitaine in particular I knew I would love this book. Elizabeth Chadwick and Sharon Kay Penman are my two all time favorite authors of historical novels. This book brings Eleanor to life in a totally different way than Sharon did and she did it effortlessly. However when dealing with history and historical figures,unfortunately the reader pretty much knows the fate of the characters. It then depends on the author to make so interesting that you just have to keep reading. Elizabeth Chadwick does this very well. To anyone who loves history or wants to know more about Eleanor and Henry II and their children...I would highly recommend this books. The novel flows along like a summer stream in which you just want to stay immersed in on a hot summer day. This was truly an enjoyable book, very well written and will definitely hold the reader's attention.

This is a helpful book! You will never mind "The Perfect Wedding Planner" for a destination wedding. Every destination is completely different. I found getting this and "The Knot Wedding Planner" to be helpful together. I ended making my own spreadsheets with timelines, budgets... etc. on Excel. If you are planning a destination wedding, get this book and read it with your fiance, it's fun!! :)

The porting info in this book is not as detailed as in A.Graham Bells 4 stroke performance tuning book but what it lacks in info it more than makes up for in pertinent pictures and this book also does a very good job of explaining how and why certain things need to be done. This is a fine book for anyone who wants to tinker with their heads for the first time. The equipment needed section is excellent and a quick google search found the needed stuff at very reasonable prices. Good job Burgess.

I took a chance at this book given how awesome Rachel Jonas first series was and while this read was semi decent i just couldn't get past the elitism and arrogance and screwed up society of blood suckers she created others will disagree but this series was not what I expected from her I may check out future books in the series to see if they are better and hope the society of vamps gets obliterrated or taken off there high and mighty pedestals

I've been a fan of this author since her LOST ROYALS series. This new book definitely didn't disappoint. I loved that it reminds me of a new take on Robin Hood. Yet in this instance instead of robbing the wealthy of money to give to the poor, Cori aka "Blackbird" saves young children born explicitly to be blood bags for the vampires in the Lydian Dynasty. This young, nineteen year old human had become the vampires public enemy number one, and they loathe that a meer human keeps besting them. To gain Intel, Cori bravely goes undercover pretending to be a vampire herself at a prestigious vampire event. The LAST thing she expected was to come face to face with the four Dynasty princes... And even less did she expect one to take an interest in her! That evening everything she knew would change, and not just for Cori. I loved this book and can't wait for the next in this exciting series!

Rachel Jonas has done it again! I may miss the dragons and wolves from her last series, but I'm in love with the main characters in this series. The fact that the heroine doesn't automatically fall in love with the men she is stuck with is wonderful. I love a building romance and when character get to know each other. The heroine did frustrate me in some parts but with what is happening to her and around her I understand her decisions (sometimes). I highly recommend this new series and any series by Ms. Jonas.

I found the world building the most interesting part of this book. Given the way the humans are treated by the vampires it is hard to feel positive about the 4 vampire leads. I liked the heroine but there seems to be a lot more backstory about her that might emerge in future books and might flesh her out a bit more.If you are a bit unsure about reading reverse harem novels don't be too worried about this one as one kiss is the entire romance so far, no sex to worry about in this one. The writing moves along at a reasonable pace and though there isn't much in the way of action after the lead-in to the book, the prospect is there for things to get a bit more violent in the coming books.Worth a read but think of this one as mostly world building and character introduction.

The author has once again outdone herself in creating an amazing brand new world of characters and paranormal creatures. I fall in love with each new world she creates. The h and the harem were one of the best group of people I have ever met. They have such strong chemistry and an amazing bond. I really liked how the book was focused on them developing together as characters before too much of the romantic stuff became more in depth. Also, the unique take on vampires and the entire paranormal world was really cool. None of it was run of the mill. In fact, it was refreshing to read about traditional PN characters that were usually good that were suprisingly good villains. In summary, I really loved reading this book. I highly recommend it for all RH lovers. Go-one click it and make your day.

We are set in a time where the vampires, know as “Ianites” are the elite majority ruler and the humans are equivalent of swine or cows.Cori is the leading lady of this adventure, and my goodness she provides a lot of entertainment, from hiding an illness, to the kick-butt attitude who does not give a flying flip about who is who but shows a sensitive side to her too. In other words, she is okay with telling the royalty to go eff themselves. I love her strength and ability to roll with the punches, she is flexible and resourceful. I cannot wait to read more of her, she is a highly relatable character, one who has many layers.The male roles in this story are held by the 4 sons of the royal empire; each son for each direction and with each sector comes a power that is granted to that line of “Ianites.” Again, a new captivating twist to understand the powers that each sector has and their ability to control, repress or share said power. The sons are more like brothers and this adds to the layers of this story. This story is showing the us the Emperor’s son Julian who is scheduled to take his father’s position in a year. This aspect lends to the intensity of his character, the stress and expectations that are thrusted upon him. He is the leader of this group and is the logical thinker who is standoffish and difficult to read at times because of his royalty role. We have a slight introduction to Silas and Levi who seem to be the fun-loving, go with the flow trouble makers of the group. Then, we have the human-hater, who is grieving someone, making him the grumpy, mean short-tempered, off with their heads character (who I kind of love) is Roman, nope, take a moment it’s a hot name too!This book leaves you hanging, so prepare yourself for a cliffhanger but I am on pins and needles waiting on book 2!

"Saga of a Latter-Day Saddle Tramp" is an excellent depiction of incredible bonding by the author and his two horses and dog. Each trusting and relying on the other for survival within a backdrop of the good and bad of southern hospitality.Since I love animals more than people, this was an easy read for me. I had a horse named Blaze when I was young and worked on a farm for its upkeep. I often went on day rides with my horse making it easy for me to relate to the author’s odyssey.I look forward to more books by Jack Grochot. He fits in with authors (Steinbeck, Hemmingway, Nietzche and others) who did their best works after a sabbatical.I recommend this book to all who love animals and nature.

What a wonderful read! I couldn't put it down. Read it in one sitting, on the edge of my seat! It was my unique pleasure to meet Jack personally before reading the book. This man is the real deal. One needs to ask themselves if they have the courage to do what he has done. My hat is off to him. His love of animals cannot be denied. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves animals and adventure. I'm waiting anxiously for his next book.

The Coen Brothers need to make this story into a movie! Great characters and a suspensful story line that will make to laugh, cry and restore you faith in humanity when our Nation is so divided. This is a perfect book to take on your next flight and after you finish it, you will wish it wasn't over. I hope a screen writer reaches out to Mr. Grochot and makes this epic journey into the next Blockbuster!

Great read! A true story about how the open road that leads to, mostly, a restorative feeling in the belief that there are good people out there all along the way. Also a great example of how the bond of man and animal is just as complex and sincere as then bonds between people.
